27th Indiana Infantry Regiment

Dedicated in 1910, the monument to the 27th Indiana Infantry Regiment is on the north side of Cornfield Avenue. (See map)

Col. Silas Colgrove, Commanding,
Was engaged with the enemy 400 yards
north of this marker. Sept. 17, 1862
.
Number engaged 440.
Killed and wounded 209.

 

The 27th is also honored by a monument at Gettysburg.
