Brigadier General Isaac Peace Rodman was mortally wounded in the fighting at the end of the day when his division was turned back from its advance from Snavely's Ford by the arrival and counterattack of A. P. Hill.

A Quaker, Rodman was born in Rhode Island in 1822. He was a banker, served in both houses of the state legislature, and married the governor's daughter.
